Update on Long Island News Truck Cat
Karen Nichols

I was so upset over the police rescuing the poor News Truck Cat in Long Island and letting her go (presumably, miles from home), that I tried to find more info on the poor cat’s fate.

According to WCBS reporter Jennifer Logan, WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall jumped at the chance to take the cat home (although it wasn’t clear if they’d actually caught the cat and it was in her possession).

If the cat is safe, that’s good news, but I’m still concerned that the cat is someone’s pet. Any cat would behave like a feral after getting that E-ticket ride, and the cat looks a little too well-fed to me to be a feral. I hope someone makes an effort to rule out the fact that News Truck Cat has a family who is missing her.

Hi Skeezy, We agree that the cat looks too healthy and too big to be a feral cat. We hope the owners see photos and stories of their missing cat and claim it. If not, then the adopted homeowner would be great. All cats deserve good and loving homes.

I hope Bosco is right and that the owners find their cat! The poor thing was probably terrified!

I think the owners will notice their missing kitty and make the connection. But if not…at least someone WANTED him. After a ride like that, a kitty needs to be wanted…

True, posters. But yes, efforts need to be made to reunited this beautiful tuxedo with his or her family.

I hope they go there with hav-a-heart traps and tuna and lots of helpful people to get that big, unhappy kitty back with his/her family. Kitty is certainly near there. A concerted effort must be made. Anyway, in the meantime, all our best thoughts to this little one! Please keep us posted, Skeez!
