We’re celebrating Halloween all week, and you’ll have a chance to win big in The Cat’s Meow’s Halloween Purrade and Photo Contest.
Grand Purrize Package:

Eligibility:
- Each entrant must have a Catster profile page or a cat blog.
- All cats in any household may enter, but only one cat per household can be a finalist.
- Photos that are enhanced using a software graphics program are eligible. However, judges will consider the significant degree of difficulty involved in posing a cat in an actual costume when selecting finalists. A well-executed non-Photoshopped entry will place higher than a similarly well-executed Photoshopped entry.
- Photoshopped entries that include a cat’s head on a human body are ineligible to participate in the purrade or receive a prize.
How to Enter:
You’ll upload your photo to the Blogger contest blog. Here’s how you do it:
- Go to blogger.com.
- In the upper right-hand corner, sign in with username: TCMhalloween and password: halloween.
- On the dashboard, click the blue “New Post” button.
- Enter a Title in the Title box. (Best Title: YOUR NAME as COSTUME ["Fluffy as Michael Jackson"])
- Click the COMPOSE tab to make it active
- Click the photo icon (3rd from right) to upload a photo from your hard drive.
- Provide a link to your Catster profile or blog.
- Optional: Add explanatory text.
Entry Deadline
- 11:59 pm on Halloween — Saturday, October 31st.
Halloween Purrade
- Entries will be posted on The Cat’s Meow on Halloween in our Halloween Purrade.
- Entries submitted after 9 pm PT on Friday, Oct 30th might be subject to a delay in being published to the Purrade. You’ll be posted to the Purrade sometime on Halloween, but it could be later in the day.
Winner Selection
The finalists will be announced on The Cat’s Meow on Sunday, Nov 1st. The winner will be drawn at random (via random.org) from the finalists, and announced on Monday, Nov 2nd.

Last week’s Monday Movie was the latest short featuring Simon’s Cat. This week, English animator Simon Tofield provided The Cat’s Meow with exclusive cartoons of Simon’s Cat with President Obama’s dog, Bo!
Of course, Simon’s Cat is a perennial favorite on The Cat’s Meow, and we can’t wait to read SIMON’S CAT, the new book about Simon’s cat’s adventures (and misadventures).
Based on Tofield’s animations that have taken YouTube by storm with over thirty million hits, SIMON’S CAT depicts and exaggerates the hilarious relationship between a man and his cat. The daily escapades of this adorable pet, who will do just about anything to be fed, and his exasperated but doting owner, come to life through beautiful black and white line drawings. With a huge fan following that is growing even larger by the day, SIMON’S CAT is set to become a major new comic sensation.
Simon Tofield is an award-winning illustrator, animator and director at Tandem Films in London.

Our friends at moderncat are raising money for Tabby’s Place Cat Sanctuary, and by making a donation — no matter how small — you’ll be entered to win one of three great prizes pictured above.
Here are the details:
Moderncat is teaming up with pet product designer Ree-Yong and Give Forward to help raise donations for Tabby’s Place Cat Sanctuary. By making a contribution of any size you can enter to win one of three designer cat items while helping to support this wonderful organization that works to improve the lives of cats.
I first wrote about Tabby’s Place last month when I learned of the work they do to help save cats that are slated for euthanasia, including lots of special needs cats. This beautiful facility in New Jersey provides adoptions, medical care, and hospice to cats who need a second chance.
Now you can pitch in to help support Tabby’s Place by making a donation through our fundraiser at Give Forward. Make a contribution in any amount (every bit helps!) and you will be entered to win one of these designer cat products from Ree-Yong’s Copenhagen Collection:

 Tabby’s Place is a cage-free sanctuary that provides refuge to cats in hopeless situations. Its residents come primarily from public shelters where they had once been scheduled for euthanasia.
This one-of-a-kind facility serves as:
- An Adoption Center, finding loving homes for cats;
- A Hospital, providing medical and surgical treatment for sick or injured residents;
- A Hospice, providing palliative care and a warm, loving environment for chronically or terminally ill cats to live out their lives in comfort.
Cats with Special Needs
Tabby’s Place does not turn cats away due to age, medical need, or “lack of adoptability.” It is, therefore, a safe haven for several older, chronically ill, or handicapped cats. These cats have special needs such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, or blindness. At Tabby’s Place, these cats are able to live full and happy lives with the medical care, love, and affection they deserve.
