Should World’s Smallest Cat Contender be Vying for the Crown?
Karen Nichols

This week, CNN released video of Bitsy, a contender for the Guinness record for the World’s Smallest Cat. Watching the video, I cringed. The year-old cat, who weighs a pound and a half, appears to be suffering from neurological damage or other affliction, and I hate to see cats exploited in this way. I could well be proven wrong. Veterinarians are checking her out and they may find her to be in purrfect health. I hope so. If she isn’t, I hope her owners expend as much effort in getting her the medical help she needs as they did trying to get her into the record books. Your thoughts?

I agree. This kitty seems pretty obviously damaged. Record books aside, she needs food and love and a new home.

Hi Skeezy, We hope for the best for this poor cat. We here wish her the very best! Your pal, Bosco.

The way she’s shaking, is it possible she’s so weak from hunger that she doesn’t have the muscle to support herself properly? Poor little thing. I hope she gets help, and if the humans have been deliberately mistreating her to break some record, I hope they get charged with cruelty.

Maybe the attention the cat is getting will also bring needed vet care. A heck of a lot of people kill kittens with neuro disorders. It looks that Bitsy was born this way, at least we hope so.

The poor little sweetie. I hope to God that a vet figures out exactly what is going on and steps in and helps her. If there is abuse, take her away, and get her the love and help she needs. I also can’t for the life of me figure out why thy needed to upset her (and the other kitty) by putting them together. It really got Bitsy upset. What a bunch of MORONS!

I think the first priority should be making sure the cat is healthy and happy. It’s interesting that there’s no mention in the story about the muscular dyscoordination.

The poor little thing looks so scared and sad. We hope she gets checked out medically and that her owners have taken good care of her. If not, she should be taken away from them.
Skeezix, please keep us posted on what happens to her.

It’s quite a worry that they spend time looking at ear size, and not the trembling or the trauma that Bitsy seemed to feel at being put with the second cat.

I also cringed… not fair for that kitty to be on camera like that… it looks like she needed her little safety area, and did’nt need to be surrounded by cameras… very upsetting for the kitty… so sad, awful video that was.

That poor little sweetheart! I hope she gets the medical care, not to mention LOVE, that she needs and deserves!

she looked absolutely terrified to me. Harley gets like that when he goes to the vet, the shaking and everything. her pupils were dilated, so it was fear or a disorder. i hope you keep us updated on her.

Ugh. Who cares about records? What about the health and well being of the cat? Poor little baby seems so ill at ease. You could see it on her face. Purring for this sweet baby.

I truly feel bad for this sweetie. She needs a lot of love and care. These people should be ashamed of themselves. If they find abuse (I suspect they will) I hope they throw the book at them.
