Police Chief Found Guilty of Animal Cruelty Charges
Cat killer Robert Utech (in photos, right), former police chief of West Concord, Minnesota, was was found guilty of two felony counts involving torture or cruelty to animals, one felony count involving the wreckless discharge of a dangerous weapon, and one gross misdemeanor count of misconduct by a public official.
The charges involved his shooting four cats belonging to West Concord resident George Layman. Utech also admitted to killing about 20 supposedly wild cats inside the city limits using a .22 caliber rifle and
dumping the remains in the grain elevator that’s just a block away from the police station.
A former West Concord police officer testified that Utech once chased a cat down Main Street and shot at it. Part-time officers hired by Utech told investigators that Utech told them he killed the cats because, “I hate them. I shoot them all the time.”
Utech also was accused of using a stun gun on an innocent bystander; botching an alleged juvenile sexual assault investigation; and telling a West Concord police officer not to charge anyone who lives in the city with driving under the influence.
Dodge County Sheriff Gary Thompson said Thursday after the trial that Utech won’t ever work in law enforcement again.

Boooooo, hisssssssssssss to the cat killer. Just because he won’t work in law enforcement doesn’t mean he won’t still be a threat to cats. People like him deserve to be thrown in jail!
Yeah, Calvin, we agree with you! Our question is, how did this man remain a police officer long enough to become a police CHIEF? Was the city council brain dead? Thank GOD at least he was sentenced. Now, how do they take his guns away? And how do they rearrange his thinking?
That’s good news that he was found guilty, now we just hope he gets a worthwhile sentence.

I have some comments but I can’t post them. Tell me again why this guy thought it was ok to kill cats? Oh, thats right…he hates them. Well, same to you, buddy. We hope you get locked up in a cage you can barely turn around in with a litter box and newspaper and food and water.

And to think.I was feeling bad about the police massacre in Oakland this weekend…then I read some ignorant crap like this. Ex-cops don’t do good in jail…Lock him up.
I advocate capital punishment for anyone who willfully hurts or kills a cat. The ancient Egyptians had it right.
This guy wouldn’t even make good fertilizer. Put him in the slam and let those he busted have at him.
This is completely sickening. People are disgusting and he should get the absolute maximum punishment possible.
I hope he gets a decent sentence. I do not understand how someone can be so incredibly cruel to sweet cats, “wild” or not.
I hope Bubba treats him like he did these cats. The wrong people all to often end up with a badge and a gun..May he have a long and painful stay at the state pen.
