New Jersey Sanctuary for Hard-to-Love Cats
Karen Nichols

Cat Guy Jonathan Rosenberg found his true career calling at mid-life. Turning his back on high tech, he built and now runs “Tabby’s Place,” a cage-free feline sanctuary that provides a lifelong home for special needs and hard-to-love cats. “It’s this world that’s so much more satisfying,” Rosenberg said.

The sanctuary is named for one of the great loves of Rosenberg’s life: Tabby, his cat of 15 years who died in 1999. All of the cats come from shelters and were scheduled to be euthanized. So far, he’s adopted out about 550 cats, more than 100 of whom were “special needs” cases. But even if they’re not adopted, all of them will live out their lives with medical care and love – even if they don’t really want it.

mr. rosenburg has a huge heart! people who use their resources (money, hard work &/or love) to better the lives of animals are the best. i believe that he has reaped more rewards in the form of unconditional love from the cats than there is money in the world.

he has definitely earned the love of those cats. and cats from those situations have lots of love to give, but are scared to care. i applaud you, i wish i could do something like that. i hope to some day.

Our family heard of this a few years ago, when Jonathon first started the shelter. What a worthy tribute to his dear friend.

What a truly wonderful man! It gladdened my heart and is a refreshing change from all the bad news we hear.
God bless him, his wife and his lovely cats.

I wish I were in a position to do something like this in the names of two of my kitty angels who are waiting for me at the Bridge, Eddie and Elliott.

What a wonderful unselfish couple! Bless these people and the felines lucky enough to have crossed their path!
