India the White House Cat Dies at Age 18

President Bush’s family cat, India, has died at the age of 18 at the White House.
Press secretary Sally McDonough said in a statement, “The president, Mrs. Bush, Barbara, and Jenna are deeply saddened by the passing of their cat India (”Willie”). India was a beloved member of the Bush family for almost two decades. She will be greatly missed.”
The black American shorthair was named after Texas Rangers player Ruben Sierra (whose nickname was “El Indio”) by Bush twin Barbara, when she was 9 years old. The family’s nickname for India was “Kitty,” although she also answered to “Willie.”
India’s favorite food was tuna-flavored kitty treats, and her favorite nap spot was under the bed.

very sorry to hear about their loss. hopefully with the new stage of the Bush’s lives (politics aside) they will get a new furry friend to share it with
Condolences to President George.W.Bush for the demise of his pet cat “India”.Nice to know that he lived to a ripe old age of 18 and was in the news in India for being named “India”!
“India” has proved that different cultures and Country’s can interpret a name in different ways hence the entire Indian population including myself found it strange that the most powerful human on planet earth had named his cat “India”, little realising that the cat was actually named after an American sportsperson Ruben Sierra, a total unknown to Indian sports and Indians.
Didn’t Christopher Columbus mistake America for India and hence the name “red Indians”?
Dear cat “India” , you will be remembered for your photogenic beauty as well as name controversy.
Rest in peace.
wow..
yeah poor kitty
but amazing how this cat is being mourned while children and women in the country called palestine are being killed every day without a sidewards glance by most of the American population
