“Goth Kittens” Seized From Pet Groomer’s Home
This week, SPCA officers seized three kittens who had been put up for sale to the highest bidder on eBay by a Pennsylvania woman who runs a pet grooming service in the basement of her home. The young kittens had been mutilated with ear, neck and tail piercings and marketed as “gothic kittens.” Humane officials were tipped off by an eBay user that the pierced kittens were for sale on the online auction site.
SPCA Officer Carol Morrison said it was unbelievable that anybody would do this to kittens. She said that the kittens will be checked by a veterinarian before deciding if they will be placed for adoption. Allegedly, a dog with pierced ears was also found at the home but was not seized.
Charges are likely to be filed against the woman. Here’s a video report:

What an idiot that purrson is! Poor babies. I couldn’t imagine how my ears would hurt….. it is like a slow torture…… plus, it must have really hurt while it was getting done!!

Lynzee & Oliver, the reason those earrings look so heavy is because they’re banana bars meant for a human navel-piercing! They’re weighted with a larger ball on the bottom to stay vertical.

This is so wrong on any number of levels! Momma is spitting mad and we hope that this idiot is put in jail and that she will never be allowed to be near any animal ever again!
We are 100% completly outraged and disgusted! What was this woman thinking? If you want to pierce yourself then fine. No problem, but a little defenseless animal!!! That is soooo wrong in so many ways! I hope this woman gets a major heavy fine as well as jail time and ordered to never have another pet or animal business again! That poor kittens!

I agree with the others – mom has no problems with humans piercing anything on their own bodies, because it’s their choice. But the kittens had no choice. So wrong.

We feel they oughta strap 2 18 pound bowling ball earrings to this persons had and give them a body peircing with a rusty and dirty railroad spike.

What really gets to mom is, on some of the sites that have posted this story, some people think it’s no big deal and compare it to getting a human baby’s ears pierced. HELLO???? It’s not even close! For one thing, doesn’t that part of our ears have cartlidge??
Oh, and mommy dropped an e-mail to the shelter, and the lady e-mailed her back and said the kittens are doing fine!

The vast majority of people into body mods do NOT like the idea of piercing animals (or babies). The rule is: the piercee must be old enough to ASK for the piercing and basically care for it during healing.
You can BET this groomer isn’t even a serious member of the body mod community….the jewery is cheap, her idea is cruel and she just FAILS.

i do not believe there are any polite words strong enough to express my outrage and fury. this woman should not be allowed to own animals in the future and should have her groomer’s license revoked for life. of course, this is after an extensive stay in a women’s penitentiary. she should also be strung up by chains in her ears the entire time she’s in prison. unfortunately, that would be cruel and unusual punishment…

We can’t stand hearing about people who hurt animals. and I am shocked that the story mentions a dog was found on the premises with a piercing but was not taken into safety by Animal Control? Why not? that poor dog should have been rescued, along with the cats, from that evil woman too.
People can choose to be pierced or not. What choice did these animals get? How can anyone with the intelligence to run a business be so stupid? A lifetime ban from keeping or working with any animal is surely the minimum penalty for this.

Animals! The cats I mean. Haven’t you Americans been branding cattle for years? Cattle, sheep, pigs all have ear piercings to “label” them. Submission rings, doesn’t the world do that to lambs? Is all this done humanely? here in the U.K. a lot of pets are tagged with Microchips just under the skin for I.D. purposes. But that’s where the outrage comes from … Cats are “pets” and cattle are for commercial purposes,so, should we care less for the cattle, sheep etc.? Let’s start suing the farmers. Cindy Stark (SPCA) said the kittens are doing well,good! It would seem there was more care and attention given to the kittens than the poor cow…
As for show dog and cat breeders. Isn’t it cruel to interbreed them for looks and re-sale value (Marketing)? Hardly a dogs(or cats) life is it? Here in the UK, restrictions have been imposed on Crufts for such purposes.

that is so wrong why would anyone do that to an animal i mean i am all for human piercing because they have a say so i mean they have a voice and for humans with pets we are the pets voice. I mean animals cant say yes or no to a piercing and the barbell used to pierce the kitten is way to big for the little kitty ears. and on top of that she runs a grooming service i wouldnt wont her any where near my animals.

(ok, wouldn’t have one of my own (for legal reasons), but the british guy above has a point. We do this all the time to other species. Not a big deal, and if it ever gained acceptance (legally), I would most likely join in.)
