About Linden Alley:

Linden Alley was founded by German-American art-lover Peter Burchhardt with the goal of making top-quality custom paintings available at reasonable prices. A true multi-national, Peter grew up in Germany, studied and worked in the US, and has lived in Asia since 2006. He speaks and reads fluent Chinese. Living in different cities around China, he saw the stunning number of highly talented artists concentrated there. There are gifted and well-trained artists with few means to find customers for their work. Some of their work is bought up by agents who then resell for more than ten times the purchase value at galleries in Europe, the US, and wealthy parts of Asia. Others work for big companies creating artwork to furnish hotels and business chains. Peter noticed an opportunity to use the Internet to reduce layers of middlemen and put the best artists in more direct touch with their customers. Linden Alley now makes it possible for anyone to commission custom-made artwork from master portrait artists, no matter how far away they are.

It would be difficult to pick which cat would make the purrfect model because they are all precious and beautiful in my eyes! I would have to either go with the eldest – Calvin – because of his gorgeous green eyes, or with the youngest – Newman – because of his gorgeous blue eyes!

Thanks for the awesome pawsome giveaway!

OMC!! I have to be the model. The Lap Lady has a photo of me on her wall at the office but she is looking for really nice personal things to hang that are nice and big. Plus, look at me, I just scream paint my blue eyes and ginormous ears!!

Oh My Mum and Dad would so love to have this. They say I am very unique with my crossed eyes that change colors due to the weird light reflections on them. I am partially sighted you see. I also have a map of Africa on my side and near my tail I have a spot that changes from stars to hearts to a kitty cat shape… I sure hope I am picked but all kitties are beautiful so I will just cross my paws!!

My mum thinks I am the prettiest kitty and she says I have the most expressive face she has ever seen in a cat. I would be a perfect model, with the cute way I sit and my lovely coloring especially the black spot on my nose which makes me look like I was exploring the inside of a paint pot. Of course, all the kitties are fantastic and I know it will be very hard to pick a winner. We are all winners.

I know that my Dad would like a portrait of me and my bridge sister, Flinders, together. The old WS tried many times to get us to pose for a nice picture and all we did was slap at each other, so it never happened. Dad would treasure a picture of the two of us together.

  7. Winnie & Chester posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 10:05 am

We don’t think we should win, but thought we would post what we would do if we did. See we have sooo much, and our mommy takes really good care of us. She has pictures on her office walls of us on canvas (made from photos) so we don’t think we need to win. But if we did, we think it would be kinda cool to give the prize away to a kitty mom or dad who recently lost their kitty so that the artist can memorialize them. Making someone else smile would be way cooler than having a painting of us!

What a fantastic giveaway! My dear departed Melissa would be the purrfect candidate for a portrait–she was a wisp of a tuxedo–sleek black velvet and pristine snow-white; sometimes fierce, and with a sly sense of humor. Gone almost a year now, my face still leeks when I think of her, as Skeezix would say…

What a furtabulous idea! My cat Sir Sonny Bono passed away December 17,2008, winning this would mean so very much to me, Sonny was my soul mate, we had him 13 years and miss him so very much. He was so photogenic and loved to be dressed up, he was so human like, nothing in this world would make me happier then to win this. Sonny was an International Cat of the month on another site for 4 months in a row, one of my friends said he was a “Legendary Icon” and another one called him the “Leader of The Pack” Sonny was and still is very much loved and missed…

Thank you for such a wonderful giveaway. Mom would love to have a painting of both of us. Mom says I am the most handsome kitty ever and LuLu is so beautiful and petite. Mom would love to see LuLU captured in a painting because her dusty orange fur and green eyes are so beautiful.

  13. Robin posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 12:36 pm

Our Mom says we are gorgeous cats & she’d love a painting of us! When we are curled up together we look like a yin-yang picture she says cause we’re black & white!

  14. Jennifer and Coopurr posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 1:01 pm

Coopurr didn’t have an easy start in life. He was found on the streets of Brooklyn as a tiny baby, taken in by a foster mom, then diagnosed with severe corneal ulcers that didn’t want to heal after he was taken to the shelter.

Throughout his battle with the ulcers, his eye was discolored from the painful sores on his cornea, and he could often only open his eye halfway. Initially, the shelter thought he might have to lose his eye, but after I adopted him and began regular visits with a veterinary opthalmologist, his eye is almost perfectly healed.

Felix, my previous cat, had his portrait painted. Unfortunately, I’ve spent so much money on his eyes that I don’t have the money to have one done of Coop.

I would love to have Coopurr’s portrait painted because he’s just as fantastic as Felix. Coopurr is sweet, smart and so affectionate. And he reminds me every day just how precious life is.

My kitties are siblings – Madagascar Bat, a little black kitty who looks like a bat, and Splotchy Paprika, who is a torti. They are my rescues – someone threw them out on Congress avenue at four weeks old. I had just lost my 12 year old cat to the food contamination two years ago and these little girls were just what the doctor ordered. I think I’d like a portrait of Splotchy, because these poor things were so tiny that both we and our vet got Splotchy’s gender wrong. We thought he was a boy, and to this day call him “him” even though “he” is a girl. Here’s the day he found out he was a girl :)

I want a special portrait of me to have something for my mom to remember me by long after I’m gone. I came to live with my mom when she was going through a divorce after 21 years of marriage. She had no children and she was going through a severe depression. We found each other almost 14 years ago and I’ve helped her through her divorce, getting a Ph.D. and a job loss.

I am a southern belle floofy Persian/Himmie mix and I would be a purrfect model for an oil portrait.

  18. Malaika posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 1:16 pm

It isn’t that I was in any way more beautiful than any other cat. Rather, it was in my quiet way of always being with my Mom, of seeking her out in the house and curling up next to her, to let her know that I was there. When I became ill at a young age, Mom and Dad did everything within their power to keep me with them, and I fought with more resilience than even I knew I possessed. Almost three years ago, I passed — but really only in the physical sense. I’m still here, sometimes visiting Mom in her dreams, and sometimes coming up along her when she needs me the most.

  19. Danielle posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 1:40 pm

My almost 6-yr old, brown tabby boy, Bailey, would be the perfect subject for an oil painting. He is my true companion and furry friend. He knows when I’m not feeling well and comes to sit quietly with me. He wakes me each morning with a gentle tap on the nose and then a lick on the cheek. I have 5 cats total and would love to have them all in the portrait, but if I have to choose one, I’d choose Bailey. My first kitty.

  20. Mina and Molie posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 1:41 pm

Well i believe the reason my two cats should win is because they are like my friends. MIna and Molie know the sound of my car when i get home from work. They come running to the front door to greet me. They get all excited and talkative and want me to be around them all the time. They are even happy to wait for me next to the bathtub while i’m showering. They sometimes poke their heads through the shower curtains to see what i’m doing inside. They love it when i go sit on the porch with them. They chase each other because they are happy and know i’m watching them play. They sometimes chase me and i chase them. They lay on me when i’m sick, they make me happy when i’m sad, and they’re always there for me when others are not. I love my friends and they love me.

I would be perfect and it would make my Mommy proud for me to be picked. I was a beautiful white Persian with odd eyes. I was deaf but really understood what Mommy said to me. I was FIP positive and I lived 17 1/2 years due to the loving tender care my mommy gave me. It broke her heart when I died.,

  22. Popcorn, Shivers, and Cuddles posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 2:15 pm

Popcorn: Hello. I would like to be chosen, even though there are other sweet little kitties out there that deserve it, because Mother tells me that I’m just the cutest little cat when I roll over in the sand and show my tummy.

Cuddles: Oooh!! Oooh!! Over here!! Me!! The impossibly amazing ME!! I’m soooo pretty, and I love it when Mommy tells me to pose! I’m a beautiful silver tabby, like my older brother, Popcorn. I have silky fur that sticks up in every direction, and a super-puffy tail.

Shivers: Um…hi…I don’t want to be rude or anything, but I like attention…and…um…I’m a pretty tabby with a cute peach-colored tail tip. I don’t deserve it, but I just like to say things about me because I like friends. =]

    Kitty Kisses,

Mama would love to have an oil painting of me. I’m not the prettiest kitty ever, but my mama thinks I’m very special and would love to have a nice picture of me done. I’ve always had a lot of health problems and am now battling heart disease, kidney disease and cancer. I’ve beat the odds so far and will be turning 15 in November. We don’t know how much longer I’ll be here on earth with mama, but we enjoy every single minute together. A nice painting would bring a smile to her face and heart when I’m at the Bridge.

Even though I’m a shy girl, I’m a good picture taker. Mama thinks I’m beautiful inside and out but don’t ALL mamas think that??

I would be a perfect model for this painting because I am a regal Siamese! I practiced to sit for my presidential portrait until I realized I had to be human to be president so this way I would be utilizing a skill I have worked on to perfect before this contest came around. I am lovely, gracious, and perfect in every way. What more could you ask for in a model?

Erm, I’ve looked at the Linden Alley Website. I don’t mean to stir up trouble, but I do believe that it is a con. These paintings look like they have been reproduced on a PC rather than by hand, they are too perfect. You can easily retouch a photograph on Photoshop and add a filter to make it look like a painting. Please be careful when dealing with this site and company.

o boy it would be hard to choose which kitty, or two, i would have a painting of. although, i have a picture of clover and memo together that i abolutely love. i also have some close ups of butter, stephie, and clover that would make great painting, like the one featured in this article.

  42. Tosca posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 7:48 pm

This is such a wonderful idea. The cat eye picture is amazing. Some of the other portraits on their website look more realistic than the original photo!

Marina and Tosca both had health problems as kittens. Right now they are happy and healthy but it has been a long, hard road for all of us.

I would like a portrait of my cats because:

    1. I have lived in my house for three years and don’t have anything hanging on the walls

    2. I’m so filled with joy every time I see my beautiful kitties

    3. Marina and Tosca look similar but are very different. I believe this artist could effectively capture their individuality.

    4. I never did anything like this when Velvet was alive. I never got the “perfect picture” of her and I regret it. I don’t want to miss out on something this wonderful with my Tonks.

I am a cat who was rescued from Animal Control. My daddy was very lonely when he got me, but I made his life so much happier. My mommy thinks that Daddy would love a portrait of me because he has never loved another animal as much as he loves me. Mommy says Daddy has “attachment problems”… I’m not sure what that means, but he sure seems attached to me! Maybe that is why it would mean so much to him to get a portrait of me. Please pick me so that Daddy will always get to look at my beauty!

  44. Kristen posted a comment on August 25th, 2009 at 9:06 pm

It’s so hard to choose between all of my cats because they’re all beautiful and definitely oil painting-worthy, but my nomination is for my Eloise. I rescued her when she was just 6 weeks old. She went from being the neglected runt of the litter, to being the shining star and “queen of the pack” of my bunch. She just turned 4 years old and as of August 13th, has gone missing. I just had to not really celebrate, but rather remember her 4 year anniversary yesterday which was really devastating to not have her with me. It was especially difficult because I still don’t know her whereabouts and whether or not she’s okay or if I’ll ever have the chance to see her again.

Eloise is very special to me and I truly believe that it was fate that brought me to her and vis versa. I believe that people can have multiple soul mates, and I don’t believe those soul mates have to just be in human form. I believe soul mates can absolutely be animals and Eloise (and Oliver) is absolutely one of mine. I am forever connected to her no matter what the outcome of this incredibly difficult experience is and and an oil painting would be such a wonderful tribute to honor her spirit. She has a bigger than life personality, and a true diva personality. She’s always full of energy and is so mischievious, yet is one of the most loving and affectionate cats I’ve ever had. Not to mention she’s just a beautiful cat with such amazing autumnal coloring.

She’s always loved the camera (even she knows how pretty she is and what a star she is) and if she could understand the concept behind this, I know she would be all for it :-) This would just mean so much to me and I would be so proud to have this hanging on my wall. I hope if Eloise ends up being chosen, she will have the opportunity to enjoy it one day too.

He is my very first cat and will be cherished always. If we were so lucky as to win it would be a first to win such a give-away. Thank you for this opportunity, it would be splendid to have an oil painting of my special friend. <3

I would be a perfect subject for a portrait! My permanent “eyeliner” makes me ready for a close-up at all times! I am white with some gray/black and fluffy and even though I may be a little pudgy, I’m simply gorgeous, or so Mom says!! She has an office at work and it’s pretty much completely empty. She’d love to have a beautiful painting of me in it! Then maybe she wouldn’t miss me quite so much when she’s at work!

I would love to have a portrait of Skitzee and Sparky… my dear sweet angels. For many years we didn’t have a decent camera (we are talking pocket instamatic at best), and so do not have any really good photos of them together, and they always were together. I miss them with all my heart, and would love to have a fitting rememberance and memorial.

Thank you very much for this wonderful give away!! It is so hard to choose which of my kitties should be the model, they are so beautiful and precious – But I would choose Buddy. He was my first cat. A rescue from the Humane Society. When in an abusive relationship, was almost killed in front of me. We went through alot together, but he stayed loving and kind. It shows in his eyes. I so want a picture of him down as an angel, he passed away this past November between 17 – 19 years old, and I can’t afford to have one professionally done. He was very handsome – but then again so are all the kitties!!

Thank you for considering my beloved Buddy!!

He does not move with the graceful motion of most cats. Tang’s Mom was a rescue and her kittens were born soon after. He has a funny walk but still found his way to our hearts forever. the Cat Street Boyz Mom, Holly

I’d love to be able to leave my family something besides a snapshot to show how much I love them. Before I was born, my mom was on the streets and covered in motor oil when she found the purrfect parents to trust with her kittens. That was 13 years ago. I was the oldest, and mama’s humans have kept me fed and sheltered and loved all this time. I have had diabetes for 18 months now and it’s been pretty rough on me and the humans. They do a lot for me, usually taking two hours a day out of their lives to give me all the shots and treatments necessary to keep my stupid kidneys in check. I know I’m very special to Mommy & Daddy, and want them to know I’ve appreciated their care.

Meows is stunned by the beauty of the portrait! Meows cannot believe how amazing the kitty’s eyes look!

The artist is furry gifted and any fur who wins will be furry furry lucky!

Meows would love to win this fur Meowmy & Daddy!

I was born with juvenile diabetes, and double cat-a-racts in both eyes. My rescuer/vet in Puerto Rico did not know this when I was sent to CT.

The original foster Mom I flew to when I was 12 weeks old was CRAZY, and her Vet saw me as a Golden Cat to pay her retirement. Meowmy was my Guardian Angel cause she was the ONLY Save A Sato volunteer in CT, so she was who they had to contact.

When she heard the crazy vet storys, the money they spent (Meowmy had to pay her back) and what they planned to do – she was furry angry. She asked the Crazy Lady to bring me to the shelter and she came and got me.

She called her vet friends, and they all said I was “unsual, complicated, would not survive, consider euthanasia”.

Instead she sat on the floor of the catputer room, held me tight, and got me wet with tears. She said Morgan – We gotta Believe!

A few days later, her kitty friends recommended Dr Nero, my Hero. Meowmy met with him with all my records. She and the Doc became best friends within 20 minutes – and my quest to see the world began then and there.

I will be four years old in September, I have new eyes from Cornell.,

Meowmy and Daddy plan their lives around me. My shots,my meals, everything is on a schedule fur me.

They love me very very much, and I love them!

Thank you furry much fur this contest!

Wow, what a prize! Every cat is lovely.. and every cat should have a portrait, and a forever family!

I hope VeVe might win the portrait because he’s the most beautiful cat to me. Ever since I got him from the pound, I knew from the glimmer in his eyes that I loved him. He’s come to mean so much more to me since then. He helps me deal with my health problems, and is always there.

But like other posts have said, all cats are beautiful.. I think all are winners, even if not of the portrait.

Thanks for the chance to enter!

My cats would be purrfect models for a painting simply because they are cats. They appear elegant and refined, so alive even in their stillness, and the ideal image to frame and place in one’s home as a point of beauty, image to contemplate, and reminder of the wonder and mystery of felines.

  72. Elizabeth Lano posted a comment on August 26th, 2009 at 5:11 pm

I must add, Julius in particular would be the ideal subject because perhaps the paint could capture the perfection of his form, the depth of his eyes, alertness of ears and whiskers, softness of fur, and how he in his entirety is more than the sum of his parts. Mere photographs just don’t seem to do him justice.

My cat Bandit would make a great portrait piece. He’s white with black.A black hood over his eyes and down the back of his neck. A very handsome boy. His unique feature is having 7-7-6-5 toes. Front to back. Those 7 toed mitts can pack a realy good smack. He has a strange sway to his walk because of them, but he’s my favorite boy. I have 4 girls and 2 other boys. Four rescues with 3 girls from mom 7 yrs ago. Plus a feral colony of 12-15 cats in my yard.
I want to get a good pix of each and do a composite of my own cats and one of my ferals. Maybe someday.

Angus’ Mom says: Angus has such a handsome face and a bold, clear-eyed look in a face-on shot I think he’d be a natural for a portrait. Perhaps a front shot with a profile behind…his colors and markings are quite dramatic, too!

My Momma deserves something “Good” to happen, in her life! She has had 3 yrs of really, really tough times, and is now having to leave her home, due to not being employed.
She/we lived there for 9 yrs; I just came to the Bridge, and Momma was devastated, as she took care of me and cuddled me and Loved me, throughout my illness.
She has 4 other kitties to Love, but I was the “Favorite” girl!
Momma has a really neat picture of my Brother “Casper” (397897) as a kitten, that shows his Beautiful “Odd” Eyes, and maybe you could put me in there, also, if you can get a nice one, of my face…
    Pleeeeeaaaaasssseee?

Wow, If we were to have our very own oil paintings of one of our beloved cats it would mean so much to me.

Mom says I would be a good canidate because I was the cat that really turned her into a cat person. Mom found me when I was 12 weeks old outside on the frozen ground. Someone must have left me there to get rid of me. Lucky for me I live the life of a spoiled cat now.
I just turned five and in those five years a lot has happened. One of the biggest things being that mom got married and moved. Mom out of the kindness of her heart decided not to take me and leave me in the home I grew up (grandmas house) because I have a really hard time with change. I get really bad UTIs when I get stressed.

So I still live the happy life and get to see mom all of the time but she would love to have a painting of me hanging on her wall just to remind her of me.

Thats why I feel I would be a good Kitty for this beautiful prize.

I would either choose my 16 year old that died last year or our 2 Himalayan cats. They are very photogenic. I would leave the decision up to my son because he grew up with the old cat and the other 2 are his and his wife’s. The rest of the cats are too aloof to be photographed.

I think that my Cleo deserves to have her picture done in oil. Cleo was thrown out of her former home in the middle of our WI winter. She was found in Jan and then when nobody claimed her she was almost put down. Lucky the WI humane society drove and got her from the pound-a few weeks later my daughter and I found her and brought her home. After we got her home we discovered that she has nasal damage due to being outside for so long. She had severe sinus infections that meds control, she sneezes and is stuffy often, but we love her even if she gets boogery. But through all this she is happy and loves to run and play. She also loves her sisfur Mysty who helps keep her active and has probably helped her stay happy. Mysty would make a wonderful addition in the picture. Mysty was left at the humane society for a month because people thought she was ugly. She was very sickly when we brought her home. Mysty had never scratched on a scrathing post or played with toys…luckily Cleo taught her all she needed to know. I think Cleo and Mysty deserve their picture done in oil.

Thank you so much for sharing your time, talent and heart with all of us here on Catster. What an amazing gift. I can only imagine how difficult it will be for you to choose the winner, as in my eyes, all kitties are winners….we are the lucky ones.

Jazzi Sunshine Angel is the sunshine of my heart. There is simply no other way to describe her. The many years we shared here on earth were amazing and I am truly a better person from all she has taught me. She came from the feral world and learned to love completely….she gave of herself so freely….she spread sunshine and peace in all she did.

Of course, she was a beautiful Tortie with stirking eyes, but her true beautiful radiated from the depths of her soul and shone brightly though her heart and actions.

I miss her terribly…and her one year anniversary of going to the bridge is in October. Having a beautiful portrait of her would be an amazing gift.

Once again, thank you for your generosity.

We love our mommy so much. She is very patient with us when we misbehave, feeds us, plays fun games, buys us more toys when we have so many we don’t need more. Special perching hammocks are in windows for us to stay inside where it is safe, but still enjoy birds, squirrels, and bunnies. We hate to imagine what our life would be like, had mom not been there to take us in.

  84. Groucho posted a comment on August 27th, 2009 at 9:12 am

I think I would be perfect for the portrait because my momma says I am so cute. I came to my momma through a friend that rescued me and my siblings from being killed by a big meanie that does not like cats. We knew the lady that took us home would save us so we snuck into the building she was working in when noone was looking. She said we were moments away from being shot. The lady that saved us already had a lot of cats and was willing to keep us, but then she found my momma and another lady to take us home. The vet told my momma how old I was and momma figured out that I was born the same week her 8 year old bird and 17 year old cat died. It was the same week she had to have skin graft surgery. She said all that means that it was meant to be that I should go with her. My momma loves me and is always fussing over me. She would love to have a beautiful portrait of me to hang on the wall. Momma has had a very tough year. She has had a total of four back surgeries, lost both grandmas, two pets and had to move into one of the grandmas house all in one year. She also inherited grandmas barking thing. Momma calls him a dog.

She loves me and the barking thing very much and likes to take pictures of us sleeping together on the bed or in our chair. We get our own chair in the house! Momma says we are spoiled, but that we deserve it because we are both so cute.

P.S. I think I am cuter than the barking thing!

    Thanks,
    Groucho

Carlin usually runs from the camera. However, one day when he was still a kitten, I got the perfect picture of him sleeping on his window perch. In that picture of him sleeping it captures the innocent, playful and mischief making essence of kittens.

  99. Nutamu posted a comment on August 28th, 2009 at 2:07 am

Oh wow how did I not hear about this sooner?
I have some very photogenic cats who love to pose for the camera but which two?
I’d have to pick the two nearest and dearest to my heart my furbabies Toby and Patches.

Toby is my disabled (cerebellar hypoplasia) kitty who I saved from being thrown out by his former owners and is very closely bonded to me. He likes to sing, often to himself when he thinks no one is around and will often pester me to come to bed when he thinks I’ve spent far too much time online (no doubt updating his profile on catster again).

Patches is the little stray kitten that was brought to me very sick and very nearly died if not for constant care and attention her first month with me. She was on her way to becoming feral when brought to me not allowing anyone to touch her. Through her hardest days she tolerated no one but me and I ended up adopting her. She’s my little dancer (a good match my singer and dancer lol) spinning in circles when I ask her to dance and has become quite friendly to other people as she’s grown.

I would really love it if my little girl Baby won this. I had rescued Baby from an abusive home. The children in the household had starved her, burned off her whiskers, locked her in a freezer, and God knows what else she endured. I had her since she was three months old until she past away this January at the very young age of only 8 years. She had cancer and because of this developed hepatic lipidosis and became jaundice. Even though this has been eight months ago I still cry when I think of her, when she passed away it took away a piece of my heart that will stay with her forever. What makes it even worse is that I never had gotten good pictures of her. If I win this portrait I would be so grateful that I would have something so beautiful remind me of my little girl.

I know my request is hardly unique. I mean every

I know mine does.Although we are all beautiful, adorable and much loved~she always wanted a portrait of my late bro Wally( catster ID 417764)
who was her soul mate and whom she lost at age 6 in 2007. She still misses him.
He was very sweet and the most gentle soul. I also loved him lots When he was sick I took care of him (groomed him.) When he died I got very very sick.(V.E.T said I was depressed.)

A portrait is a luxury she could never afford and this would be the only way to have one.
So, am I tugging on heartstrings? I hope so.Did I mention that mom has never ever won anything? MOL!

My Mom thinks I am very special. She took me from the outside and I was so afraid to be touched I spent a month hiding in the basement ceiling only coming out to eat. The neighborhood kids tried to hurt me because I am almost pure white and I stick out outside. I have a grey/white tail and a grey spot on one ear but Mom loves my beautiful green round eyes. Now I have learned to love being touched and am always at Mom’s side. My sisters are pretty too, but Mom thinks I deserve it more because of all the things I went through. Now I take care of my sisters who love to cuddle with me because I am so gentle. Thanks for just considering me, I really have already been given a second chance at life so maybe someone else deserves it more. I’m just happy to be alive and truly loved so much.

    Hi Everyone

I have pondered on this thinking what makes me special and have decided on what makes mummy special. Before me Mummy lost two young cats to car accidents and made the decision not to have a cat again as the pain was to hard. Then I came along, looking for a new home (my 4th home) otherwise I was to be put down. Straight away my lovely mummy came forward and took me in, and the rest is history, i have lived here 10 months now and each day is full of love and cuddles. She has bad days when she miss Pebbles and Rhea so much, and I would love her to have them done as a portrait so that she always have them in our house, and help her to remember the good times. Thank you my caster id is 922814, thank Tilly xx

We lost our 6 yr old baby Obi suddenly on Valentine’s Day. She was such a sweet girl that I had often called her “Angel Baby” and now she really is. I had caught a perfect shot of her when she was 4 months old that would make a beautiful portrait of her to remember her by.

Adding Ash, our Cornish Rex, to it would be an added bonus – not only because he’s an unusual looking kitty, but he has a heart condition that will shorten his life. We found out about it right after we adopted him. It makes every moment with this purry boy more precious.

I would like my kitties Orangey and Duchess to be painted. My cat Orangey would be the perfect kitty to get painted. He passed away August 22, 2008 due to cancer. It was a horrible disease that I could not bare seeing him look the way he did before he passed. Having a painting of him would be amazing! It would help me remember the good times I had with him before he was sick. I love my little orange kitty. He was the only orange kitty out of his litter. There was 9 kittens, all were black except Orangey. Duchess is a very special kitty. She was from a dairy farm and had many injuries when I got her. She’s such a sweet baby and loves her mamma. She had a broken tail and bruised ribs, most likely from being stepped on by a cow. I would love to have my two babies painted in a picture together. They never got to know each other before Orangey passed, but I would love them to be together in a painting. If Orangey and Duchess get picked I would be so excited! Their catster IDs are 1027115 and 1025301
    Thanks soooo much!!

I have 3 cats and I love them all so much and they all deserve a portrait. But, Tigger, she is my middle daughter (cat), she deserves a portrait the most. She followers me everywhere and helps me do the dishes but rubbing against my legs, she helps make the bed, she is the most loyal too. Oh, I almost forgot… she is very talented. She has her own blog, I help her sometimes but she does most of the work herself.

Mostly because she is my best friend.

    Sincerely,

    Tricia

Is there anyone more fit for a commissioned oil painting than a princess? Her Royal Highness Merriweather would make a lovely subject, with her bright green eyes, luscious pink nose, exquisite calico coloring and dignified poses. She is no stranger to portraiture; she has worked as model many, many times (some of her clients include Mama, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpaw and Uncle, as well as numerous friends and guests visiting her palace). Princess Merriweather has purr-fected the most gracious, darling, adorable poses for the camera and has been featured in a Ventura County Star newspaper article, a Michigan Humane Society pageant and many Shutterfly books and calendars. Beyond her great beauty, she is a sweet, loving and loyal companion and is adored by all who are graced with her presence. The princess invites all to visit her website (www.catster.com/cats/287282) and also view her modeling portfolio (http://picasaweb.google.com/passmeavernors/Pincess#). She thanks you for your consideration and hopes to meet you all someday. Cheers!

I (Cali) am cautious, generally calm & home-loving,While Tigger is impetuous, playful & loves to go on patrol in the back yard. Sometimes we have spats, but never really violent,& we always make up. Together we form a whole from our disparate personalities.

Excellent point about keeping microchip records up-to-date. Miss Nina went on walkabout this summer; I was frantic! knowing she was microchipped and her info was accurate was important in keeping me sane. I want to add that, if your town or municipality requires cats to be licensed, as mine does, DO NOT ignore the law. Because Nina has her license tag, I was able to enlist the help of the entire municipal work force to keep an eye out for her.

Nina’s tale has a happy ending – 3 days later she came home on her own, tired but healthy. Scared me to see the numerous collarless, untagged, unlicensed cats out there while I was searching for her – how many of those furbabies made it safely home?

  130. Colleen Sheehy /Nina's Meowmy posted a comment on August 29th, 2009 at 11:31 pm

Oh yeah, why Nina would be an excellent subject for a painting – She’s a cat and ALL cats are persons of great beauty and interest. Besides, I love her, just as everyone else who’s responded loves his or her cat!

I’ll be doing portraits of all my cats in CCS, contest winner or not. They’re already permanently etched on my soul and my heart.

I would love to have a beautiful handmade painting of my family of cats. I have 9 cats–one of which is a therapy cat and another that is a kitten in training to be a therapy cat. I love them each like my own child, and since I have 9, I can never get them together for a photo. I also would like to use the painting of each face in their individual pet badges. It is my greatest dream to have someone translate my love for my cats with their love of art onto canvas to create a gift of a lifetime that I would truly cherish for a lifetime.

We spent over an hour a day on administering subcutaneous fluids and medications for our wee white kitty Solstice, who had Chronic Renal Failure (”CRF”) with no complaints as we loved her so. She was hospitalized, she had blood transfusions, and we gave her our all.

Unfortunately, she left us on July 27th for Kitty Heaven and it would mean so much to us and comfort some of the heartache, to be able to memorialize her in a portrait. Thank you for the opportunity.

Elliot is a very luck cat. I rescued a lost kitten, too. She was sitting beside the road. I got off my bike and picked her up. She was fur and bone and she had matted eyes and raspy breathing. I brought her home, bathed her and put out some moist food and milk. She devoured everything and was soon restored. I named her Milly. She lept up into my lap, curled up and began to purr. I would haved loved to keep Milly but in my apartment building we are allowed only one pet. And I had a brindle calico. I gave Milly to the local humane society and called often to check on how she was doing. She was well and within 2 weeks was adopted by a loving family. I felt so good that I had found her and saved her life.

My name is Caribou and I think I would be a glamourous
model for a beautiful oil portrait. My mommy and I have a magnificent relationship. I wake up every morning and tell her I love her and she takes me in her arms and cuddles me before she starts her day. My mommy has so much love to give and shows her love to others by volunteering at the local shelter. When she comes home from the shelter, she tells me about the new arrivals and how she made them feel at home. I am so proud of her and she will always be my favorite person and best friend. When I saw this article, I couldn’t pass up a chance to win a portrait painted by a wonderful artist. I just wanted to give my mommy something that she can admire and I know for sure that a gorgeous painting, by Linden Alley, featuring her little princess will be the most purrrfect gift. I can already imagine her eyes light up with joy as she stares at the masterpiece. It will most definitely be the center of every conversation.
Thank you for this opportunity! I hope you can consider me as your next feline model.

I had a tough life until my Mom adopted me and I really wasn’t ready then to have a portrait of myself done! I had missing fur, bumps all over my body, runny nose and eyes, I was skinny and very sick! Mom says I was lucky to be alive…I was rescued from a house with 95 kitties! However, it’s been 11 months now, living with my Mom and I’ve improved at least 85% , since then. Now I just have health problems, that hopefully , someday will improve! I look so handsome now…and I feel proud! My Mom and other humans say ,I am so cute…especially my side view! I guess you could say ..I’m Picture Perfect!!!! Please consider me for the Oil Portrait! I’ve never thought of something as creative as getting an oil painting for one of my cats. I think it is a lovely idea for anyone. I have recently moved and dedicated one of the rooms in my house just to my cats. (Crazy? Nahh, I just love my babies!)

And to have an oil painting to hang up on the wall for friends and family to see would be beyond amazing.
It would be hard to choose which one of my cats I would want to dedicate a painting to as I love them all dearly.

Vages, my little girl would deserve it as we have gone through so much from her being ’stolen’ from me and to being re-united again. She is my favorite I must say.

Duke has those intense blue eyes that I can not get enough of. They photograph so well.

Prince has a heart murmur and gets sick easily.
Hes my big boy with a quirky personality that makes me laugh.

Even though Vages may be a more ordinary looking cat I would probably go with her. As I love her more than life its self, but I would probably feel bad and go out and try to have oil paintings done of my other kitties as well! lol =D
Thanks for the opportunity for my kitty clan.

I think my Karlie would be a wonderful subject for an oil painting. He is tan with what looks like 4 feathers on his back, close to his tail. He has a great personality and sometimes we think he’s a bit human! He likes to play tag, fetch his rope and loves to see if there is anything in the greocery bag’s for him when we bring home grocery’s. He is very curious and if he wants your attention or just plain wants to be around you..he will lay down on the computer desk while you are trying to do work on the comuter, of course you have to crank your head around him to see your screen or adjust it so you can see your work, or you have to stop everything and give him his hugs and kisses and petting. He is wonderful and funny and we love him very much! That is just some of what Karlie is about.

Moonlight Louie and his compatriot, Sammy Spade, would like to win because, while they’re a devilishly handsome ebony duo, black cats are extremely difficult to photograph. I want to tell mew why my sisfur Maggie would be a purrfect kitty fur a painting. Mew see Meowmie is an artist but she’s not a oil painter. She’s longed to be able to do a portrait of Maggie who was called to the bridge at only 9 months by the horrible nasty FIP illness. Fur some reason emotionally she can’t do the picture herself. I think that my sisfur is so beautiful and oils would capture her purrfectly. I am writing because Maggie is the kitty who help my Meowmie chose me at the shelter. I think to win a painting would be a wonderful tribute to that gift and how much Meowmie loved and loves Maggie and how much I love her.

My cat Racer (R.I.P. baby!) would make the perfect model!
Not only was he the most beautiful kitty in the whole world, he was also such a great model!
When I look at his photos, I want to cry because I can still remember him so well, even though it was so many years since he passed.
Every photo I have of him really reflects his personality. That’s amazing to me, because I’ve never met anyone, feline or not, like that.

I miss him dearly, because I truly believe that he was my soulmate on this earth!

My mom would love to have a painting of me to hang on a wall of our new home once we get moved to Oregon. I have been with mom since I was about 2 yrs old (I’m 16 now, almost 17) and have gone through a lot with her.

Mom says I am responsible for her buying a home instead of staying in an apt. and because she bought this particular home she has been able to rescue numerous kitties of which Shamara, Toby and Sasha ended up as part of our family.

One rescue ended up being adopted by a missionary and moved to Africa; another senior rescue ended up in a wonderful home locately, and the others also ended up in wonderful homes.

Mom hunted a whole year to find me the perfect house where I would be safe. Mom says I am a very special girl and will always be her very special baby as I not only changed her life but that of many rescues.

I’m a very beautiful young looking senior with the softest, fluffiest fur and the prettiest gold eyes. I know I would make an excellent model for a painting.

Doodle’s the one. No Meow about it. She’s 19.5 years old, the senior member of my family. Actually, Doodle is just about my longest relationship! She still is the most beautiful cat with her long white whiskers and clear gaze. One of my friends told me once how unique she thought Doodle is because “she looks right at you.”
Doodle’s life companion died in 2007 at 16 years old. Mouse has an original painting but Doodle does not.
It seems only fitting that the old girl gets her claim to posterity as well!

O my goodness, it certainly is difficult to pick the purrrfect kitty model out of the five that we’ve had. I think I’d have to pick a composite of Frenzy and Angel. Both are recently deceased kitties who have been miracles in their own rights. Angel was eaten by the husky dogs living down the road and Frenzy was run over by a car right in front of the house a couple of days ago. I think this would be a wonderful memorial photo of the two together.

It’s hard to decide what to write in order to win a contest. But I will just say that my cat Buttons is 16 years old, and I’ve had her since I was 9. She is part of my circle of people I am closest with. I am an only child and for most of my life it was just my mom, my dad, Buttons, and me. My dad passed away when I was 16, and Buttons and I became closer. After college, I moved into my first apartment and it was just Buttons and me. Now I am married, and my circle includes my husband, his kitten, Buttons, and me. Yesterday, Sept. 3, 2009, she was diagnosed as having an 80-90% chance of cancer from a mammary tumor. I can’t imagine my life without her, and a beautiful oil painting of my sweet calico cat would be a touching and wonderful tribute to her life. Thank you.

My furangels Blazer and Tootsie deserve to be immortalized on canvas. Not only were they my favorite photography models, but they each saved my heart several times over! “Blazer Baby” was my bottle-fed kitty who I had the pleasure of sharing my life with for over 15 years, until injuries she sustained from our house fire stole her away from us. Tootsie, who had run away from the fire, found her way back to us 2 days after Blazer left for the Rainbow Bridge, and helped our hearts begin to heal and literally re-piece our lives back together after loosing everything in the fire. Our darling Tootsie has joined Blazer at the Rainbow Bridge only 4 months after we lost Blazer. We would love to have a beautiful portrait of our heroic angel kitties in our newly built house this winter; for they are always in our hearts!

I would nominate our 12 year old, Elly. We call her the Welcome Wagon. She has been with us 10 years, but 2 of her siblings have passed on. Whenever we introduce a new cat, she comes right over to touch noses and welcome them. She always gets hissed at, but her faith and open spirit are very touching. She loves people – and is more reliable than an alarm clock.

It’s hard to say who should be immortalized so life-like! James Brown II is so big and handsome with huge blue eyes! Hayley’s got an adorable, squashed face and big, beautiful green/gold eyes. And, Muffin was my beloved baby for 19 years…from the time I was 6 years old until she passed when I was 25. Hmmmm…decisions, decisions, but a great one to have, if I win!

I would love to have a portrait done from this picture of my beloved Greebo, who was my best friend and a total mama’s boy. After two and a half years, I still miss him so much and I love that picture of him. I’ve always planned on enlarging and framing it, but it would be especially nice to have a beautiful portrait of it, which would be even more lovely with the boards removed.

Only reposting because I forgot to put my catster ID.

Back in June of this year, on my 35th Anniversary trip, I fell in a hole in a damaged sidewalk, broke my right hip and leg. After surgery placing a rod in my leg and 2 very long screws in my hip, I made a painful flight across country back home.

My girls, CATZ, took turns day and night in what seemed to be shifts. Each seemed to have a job..

Miss Kitty (Tiger striped Tabby my 14 year old), stayed with me on the bed all day then relinquished her duty as she slept in the chair beside me. Pretty Girl, Baby and Bastet the kitten took over night duty.

When Bastet (Silver Egyptian Mau) heard me up moving around, she walked with me to the bathroom, stayed outside the door and walked me and my walker back to the bed. During the day she also performed this duty. And she found that I liked to hear her sweet EMAU voice, so she chortled to me when she slept on my throat.

Pretty Girl (Calico-Tortie) remained sleeping next to me on either the bed or the table all night. She never moved from her post and woke up everytime I moved. DUring the day she strolled into the room periodically to see if Miss Kitty and Bastet were there with me.

Baby (Tuxedo) paced the house all night, keeping guard at the doors, and jumping on me during the night at certain times, to check my face, obviously making sure I was still breathing. During the day, she strolled into the room to check on me the times Pretty Girl was not in the room..I guess to be sure Miss Kitty and Bastet were doing their job.

Since I sleep upstairs now and get around with a cane, they still have their duties. Pretty Girl escorts me to the bath room and back every night.

Bastet sleeps on top of me and is always on top of my face, checking to see if I am still breathing. Sometimes it makes it difficult to breath because she on my nose.

Miss Kitty paces the house at night by the doors and windows, and Baby lays outside my bedroom door.

I feel my girls took and are still taking such good care of me during a difficult recovery period, they should have a portrait made of themselves.

I was a rescue from the shelter…came into the shelter via a taxicab with two other cats and no owner. My mom happened to be there that day and brought me home when someone said “who is going to adopt a bald cat”. I had the most wonderful personality and turned out to be a shining star in my family’s life. I am not gone, just gone ahead.

I have 3 kitties but one in particular is special. His name is Bear and he is a stray my husband and I saw when we first moved into an apartment in 2007. It took Bear a little over a year not to run from us. We would leave him food out every night and over time he knew he could trust us. He would sleep on our front door step and on our porch, he wouldn’t leave, he was like our guard kitty. In December Bear went missing for a month and a half. I was getting worried and I told my husband I wish Bear would come back and the very next morning I hear Bear greeting my husband with his husky meow before work. Later that day Bear left and I didn’t get the chance to see him, but he showed up that night. He was in very bad shape, drooling, running eyes and nose and an awful sneeze. We rushed him to the vet the very next day. They told us he has feline leukemia and there was nothing they could do, the best option would be to put him down. I refused and knew there was treatment and left the vet with Bear sad as ever. Did they refuse to treat Bear because he was a stray? I found a Holistic vet that would treat Bear and they did. I knew Bear had a chance because he was still eating like a champ and was showing us all the love in the world. It was not Bears Time. They gave us all the medications we needed to get Bears Feline Leukemia under control and he’s as happy as ever. We found out Bear was your typical tom cat, built with muscle and we also found out he was around 10 years old. You can tell Bear is a sick kitty but you wouldn’t know what was keeping him down. He doesn’t act very sick. He has his days but he is always in high spirits. We are now moved from the apartment where we first met Bear and I had to bring him with me. All though Bear cannot be around the other kitties and has a room to himself, he makes the best of it and always greets us with happy meows. I don’t know who’s luckier Bear for finding us, or us for finding Bear.

When Mom adopted me, she was told I was an 18-month-old female. When Mom took me for my check-up, the vet told Mom I was actually a 12-week-old male, but just a very large breed. Suddenly, I went from “Priss” to “Elvis”! Then within a few days, I became very, very ill and Mom heard that the shelter I came from had killed every kitty that I had bunked with before my adopton. We all had distemper! First I was a “throw-away” stray that had been left on the side of a road, and now this!!! Mom took me from vet to vet until she found one who would try to save me. Because I had come from the “bad” shelter, no one thought I was worth the effort except Mom and Dr. Omar. I was in intensive care for about a week. Dr. Omar didn’t know if I would make it or not, but when Mom brought in a St. Francis medal and hung it on my crate, I started to improve. Today I am a full-grown, Norwegian Forest Cat. Mom says I am her miracle kitty. Mom would love to have a picture of me as an inspiration to everyone who visits–love, prayer and faith can move mountains and can also save sick and forgotten kitties.

Always ready to go out in the sun, or relax with me with a book, she would make the perfect model for a oil painting, with her carmel, chocolate and malt- coloured markings.

My cat Bridget would make a great subject for an oil painting, mostly because of her unique coloring and quirky personality. Part Siamese, her fur is mostly gray and white with tints of blue…sometimes there’s even a champagne looking color. Her eyes are startlingly blue…think Cal Ripken, Jr. Bridget’s a big girl – she weighs about 15 lbs, but is tall and athletic. She switches her tail when she’s not pleased and has a high-pitched meow. She refuses to play with store-bought toys, but loves rolled up paper, cotton balls, twisty ties and especially straws! She will play fetch with these items just like a dog. Bridget also has her own MySpace page and twitters about living with her mom. (http://twitter.com/Bridget_the_Cat)

My father passed away and he was the world’s most adamant animal lover. During his last few years his only enjoyment came from his cats, especially his youngest who was a feral kitten I gave him. The cat is the most precious, sweet loving cat I have ever known probably due to all the true love Dad gave him. A picture of his cat would be beyond words to me. My Dad was a super man, gentle, kind, and valued animals above his own life. This would be something I would treasure in memory of a father who meant the world to me. Thanks for giving me a chance at least. I’m soaking my keyboard with tears just writing this as he passed on 9/5 two years ago and his cat mourned him for almost a year, I think he still does.

My cat of a year and a half just passed away due to a spider bite. Smeef was abandoned by his mom who gave birth to only two kittens, his lil sister didn’t make it. Being very malnurished he almost didn’t make it, he was also horribly inbred, although on the outside it didn’t show. He was a very special boy and all his life had struggled because of his poor motor skills, causing him to be injured very easily(loosing toenails for example) as well as not being the most healthy overall mentally and physically. I miss him soo much and it breaks my heart to have lost him, as he was my child and during a bout of depression when I rescued him I stayed well to take care him. I’m still trying hard to cope. One way to help me would be a beautiful painting of him. For all to see as well and he will be remembered always. You can see more about him on his profile: [http://www.catster.com/cats/805318]

WOWZERS! How absoutely beautiful! Meowm and I were touched at the kitties and furmilies who would donate their portrait to another kitty if they won….Meowm has a painting of both my bridge brofurs, and she knows how much she’d love my picture painted, too! I really do hope we win!

I know that my cat gary is a true muse, she is only one of a very few kind of cat who I can never seem to find. I dont think people know what they are seeing and dont know the uniqueness of what they have.I found her as a kitten in the middle of heavy traffic.everyone was trying so hard to miss squishing her.I had been wishing for a cat, how special an event it is( cats find there people) an employee of an old and rare book store in tempe told me that(she got her library cat like that and i think every cat parent will agree). I knew it was going to happen when I least expected it.We pulled over and made are dream a reality at that moment.and have been obsessed cat parents ever since. and what a rewarding experience it has been. http://WWW.Catster.com/cats/1076574
