From W&C's mom............

I highjacked the computer from the furbies and this time I am posting. I saw the contest about the best mom and I have seen all the posts about why kitties love their mom's, but I have to share my spin on what mother's day is really about for me.

For me mother's day is about remembering how blessed I am to have Winnie and Chester in my life. Being their "mom" is an honor and a pleasure, and something I too often take for granted, Mother's day is that great reminder that without our "children" we would have no reason for this day.

When W&C came into my life my heart was broken, I had put my precious Taz to sleep just a month before. I thought my heart would never love again. Then I found these two fuzzy faces waiting for me at a local shelter. I had no clue what they would add to my life

Winnie...she is my heart. A sweet, loving, wise cat. She is patient but no one walks on her, she is affectionate and loyal and would love nothing more than for me to lay in bed and pet her the rest of our lives. She lives for nothing more than love.

Chester...he is my soul. Funny, comical and sweet. He is not the brightest crayon in the box and yet at the same time he seems so amused by the world. He is as unique as they come...he squeaks like a baby bird, he walks a little funny and whistles when he purrs, but I wouldn't change one thing about him. He makes me laugh and smile and makes my heart sing. His anticts keep Winnie young and age her at the same time.

I still miss Taz, she was my best friend through a horrible time in my life. She was my soulmate, always there when I needed her. She just knew what was going on somehow. But W&C have found pieces of my heart that I had never touched with Taz.

What makes a great mom? Having great "kids". I am honored on Mother's day and ever other day that these furry babies are in my life, that they found me and put up with my crazy work life and still love me!!!!!

Love
W&C's mom

I nominate my mom 'cause...
she is the coolest Mom in the whole wide world! Ever since she has to stay at home...she has donated all of her waking hours to making me happy. Yeah...all for me! I get to do the coolest things that lots of cats can't do. She let me have a party here in <a href="http://www.catster.com/forums/Party_Time_and_Virtual_Play_Dates/thread/590289" rel="nofollow">Whine Country</a> and she also let me take my friends to <a href="http://www.catster.com/forums/Party_Time_and_Virtual_Play_Dates/thread/595248" rel="nofollow">Paris</a>
and just last week, she let me host a <a href="http://www.catster.com/forums/Party_Time_and_Virtual_Play_Dates/thread/609053" rel="nofollow">Kentucky Derby</a> party. On Cinco de Mayo, I was a very bad boy. Me and Morty got drunk with some dogs at Anna's Cantina and I got a <a href="http://www.catster.com/photos/tags/index.php?p=1&c=19&search_string=mom+tattoo&order=newest&exact=y#" rel="nofollow">"Mom" tattoo</a> on my butt for Mother's day! Then in the morning when I was on the front page of the local <a href="http://www.catster.com/photos/tags/index.php?p=1&c=19&search_string=mom+tattoo&order=newest&exact=y#" rel="nofollow">newspaper</a>, she didn't even punish me. She was gonna make me go to "Fur Club For Cats and get fur plugs to fill it in...but now I think she likes it! See...she's the best mom ever.

Wow, I am overwhelmed by all the super-wonderful moms on here! You are all so lucky to have them!
Let me tell you why I love my mom. I can't write cool poetry or really profound stuff, but I still think my mom is the greatest. I was living on the streets of a trailer park near where mom and dad lived, and mom started putting out food for me and the other kitties. After a while she let me and my friend come in the house sometimes. Before long we were sleeping in the house at night, and coming in whenever we wanted. Mom and dad had to move to a new place, and couldn't leave Pixel and me behind so she took us to her work place and had us "fixed," and we went to the new home. Since then she has put up with my anxiety and spraying in the house (I take medicine for it and I'm much better, and every morning she puts pheremone spray around the house to make me feel okay), and when I got diabetes she didn't give up on me. She checks my blood herself with a poky stick in the ear and a meter (I hate it, but it always gets me some good food) and gives me shots when I needed them. I've been diabetic for a year and a half now. She gives me whatever I want to eat as long as it's on my diabetic diet (lots of chicken--yum!) and even lets me lick the grill if there was chicken on it. Oh! I almost forgot, mom got a stroller so I can see the neighborhood safely, since I was used to roaming and hate to be indoors all the time. She and dad made their own cat fencing in the backyard so my brothers and I could go out there and still be safe.
Face it, my mom is a crazy cat lady and I wouldn't trade her for anyone!

Hi, My name is Sammie and I nominate my "mom" for the “Best Cat Mom” Award. My mom is 91 years old. Several years ago she decided that she wanted a cat to keep her company. Instead of adopting a cute little kitten, she decided to adopt a mature cat that needed a home. I'm handsome, but I'm a large, overweight, mature cat. And I have a reputation for being temperamental and hard to get along with; so I hate to think about what would have happened to me if my mom hadn't adopted me. When my mom first adopted me some of the people that worked where she lives were afraid of me and my mom's great grandchildren thought I was mean. I'm ashamed to admit this because I really like my mom a lot, but one time I bit my mom and she had to go to the emergency room because her hand swelled up. They even had to cut her wedding and engagement rings off her finger, but my mom still loves me. My mom has been very kind and patient with me and we have grown very close. I'm a little friendlier and better behaved around visitors now than I used to be. I love my mom and I know that only a person with a big heart would have chosen to keep me. My mom deserves to win for puting up with me and I think that my mom would look cute in a pink Skeezix the Cat Cap or a Catster T-shirt. One of my mom's daughters helped me type this.

These are great stories of the meowmy's and it's making me feel jealous, I wish my meowmy could do all those things .Also we have loved seeing the old photos, Maybe we should have another scroll for Meowmy's and daddy's with their first kitty?

I (Raza) would like to nominate someone and it's not my meowmy.

This cats meowmy......... Is famous on Catster

This cats meowmy.......... You feel honoured it you see a reply to your post

This cats meowmy........... Is there if you need them

This cats meowmy............ Has prompted other cats to form a group in the cats name.

This cats meowmy..............Has probably saved numerous Catster cats from certain fate.

This cat's meowmy............. You can trust what they say

This cats meowmy.............. Is a vet tech but sounds like she should be a vet, she is so good.

This cats meowmy.............. Is our very own Catster Doc (not getting at the Catster vet)
But this cats meowmy - Posts in the threads, forums, in the answers and answers our p-mails to her

What would we do without her? What would Catster be with out her?

My nomination is........... The one and only........

I would like to nominate my momma. She took me in when I was just about 3 months old. She hadn't had a cat before, so I had to teach her a few things. She took care of me all by herself for about 5 years when she gave me a daddy and two fur brothers. I liked being an only cat, but once I had brothers I realized that it was really nice to have someone to play with and snuggle with. Even though, I still have that time with Momma.
Since then, momma & daddy have taken care of all of us, took care of my brother Sparky when he was sick and then eventually gave me a new little brother & sister.
She also rescued a kitty from the streets, turns out my sister Sweetie was FeLV positive. I never got to meet her, but I know momma & daddy did what they could for her.
They also took in a couple cats for a furiend while their momma had to find a new home because of a fire.
Recently momma & daddy also participated in the transport of a kitty to her furever home.

Mostly, my momma has always taken such good care of me and my whole family. Just like she's taking care of me here when I had Vestibular Disease. She's the best!

A SALUTE TO ALL THE GREAT CAT MOMS.

When I first saw this contest, I wanted to nominate my Momma for all the love and care she gave me over the years, especially after I was diagnosed with cancer. I knew our entry would definitely have pathos if I recounted all the sacrifices Momma made for me whether it was living off of cereal, pasta, and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches at times so she could pay for my vet bills, or driving home on her lunch hour everyday, 20 minutes each way, just to give me my medicine. She made the biggest sacrifice of all when I got too sick to fight any longer - she told me how much I was loved and held me close to her heart while the vet gave me a peaceful crossing.

I could also add something original to my entry by describing how Momma came to rescue Jack from a shelter (either a series of coincidences or the work of angels - you can read Jack's early diary entries and decide for yourself). As for humor, well, Jack's very first night home he piddled smack dab in the middle of Momma's bed - while Momma was sleeping in it! *giggles* He was such a little terror those first few weeks, and some humans might have sent him right back to the shelter, but Momma would never do that to one of her furkids. Momma loves us all and accepts us for who we are -- a mother's love is unconditional.

That got me to thinking about what makes a great Cat Mom. <a href="http://www.catster.com/cats/267400" rel="nofollow">Morgan the Pirate Gato</a> has a great Cat Mom. She helps rescue both cats and dogs and she makes and sells pawsome beds to help pay for Morgan's medical expenses. <a href="http://www.catster.com/cats/717775" rel="nofollow">Christopher</a> has a great Cat Mom who took him in even though he is blind. She also takes in older cats or cats who have terminal illness. She makes sure their last days are spent knowing what it is to be loved.

Aldo & Tess and their doggie sister Noelle were loved by their mother Laurel until the day she died - almost one year ago now. When these three were orphaned, wonderful Cat Moms and Dog Moms (and probably a few Dads) from around the world came to their rescue. Some Cat Moms donated money, some gave their time to help in the search and rescue, some were foster Moms, and so many more prayed for Laurel's family. <a href="http://www.dogster.com/dogs/790262" rel="nofollow">Noelle</a> was adopted by <a href="http://www.catster.com/cats/513631" rel="nofollow">Simon's</a> Meowmy and <a href="http://www.catster.com/cats/797385" rel="nofollow">Aldo</a> was adopted by <a href="http://www.catster.com/cats/346215" rel="nofollow">O'Malley's</a> Meowmy. Tess' fate is still uncertain, but we hope that wherever she is, she is safe and loved.

Of course, the rescue of Aldo and Noelle was coordinated by the beautiful <a href="http://www.catster.com/cats/64639" rel="nofollow">Hazel Lucy</a> and her Mom. Their caring is endless. They would give the shirt off their back - or the hat off their head - to help someone in need. They maintain <a href="http://www.catster.com/forums/Get_Well_Soon/thread/370066" rel="nofollow">The Get Well Purr List</a> and make trankie blankies to donate to shelter kitties. With their kind and generous spirits, Hazel Lucy and her Mom remind us that "mother" isn't just a noun; it's also a verb.

So who is the Best Cat Mom? My Momma, and your Meowmy, and her Mom, and his Mummy, and all of the Cat Moms out there giving their furkids unconditional love. Happy Mother's Day.

I would like to nominate my human because she has always been there for me. When my mommy's human suspected that she was pregnant with me and my litter mates, they dumped off in an unfamiliar town. She wondered around, desperate for food, until she stumbled upon a human's house who had many cats. The house was in a fairly quiet town, it was summer and the back door had been left open for the owner's cats to come and go as they please. My mom (Later named Shadow by one of the young humans) strolled into the house and found plenty of food and fresh water. When it was discovered that she was not one of their cats, she was adopted into the household. They named her Shadow (because she was a mystery cat) and when it became apparent that she was pregnant, they took good care of her and her offspring too. Unfortunately one of the kittens was born very sick and although my human took all of us to the vet, my one littermate went over the rainbow bridge. We were all welcomed into the household.
In 2002 my humans' house caught fire. All of the cats miraculously managed to escape. My human's family had to move temporarily to a hotel while looking for a new place to live (the house was totally destroyed in the fire and uninhabitable). The animal control officer, a sweet neighbor lady and my human ( when she was not at work) were looking for all of us in order to find homes for us. One day after work, my human stopped and noticed that I was living under what remained of the front porch. She managed to get a hold of me (even though I was scared and bit and scratched her) and placed me lovingly in a cat carrier. By this time mu human and her family had found an apartment to rent not far from the house. my whiskers had been singed almost completely off, and only a couple of inches remained. Miraculously, that was the extent of my injuries. My human gave me a nice warm bath and food and water. My whiskers have grown back, and now seven years later I still live with my human and her family and two other cats (a brother and sister act) from the original cats.
I think my human deserves a prize for mother's day because she is a great human and one of her aspirations in life is to someday be the town's crazy old cat lady somewhat like the one on The Simpsons.
Thank you, for considering my human!!!
 Respectfully Yours,

I love my Mom for her Mother's heart. After Zoe became an Angel, she set aside her own broken heart and knew she had to get Jobél a companion ASAP. So in time, she saw my precious son Jasper and decided he was the one!

Thank you Mom for praying so hard that I would also be adopted. Thanks for thinking about me constantly as the days and weeks went by. Thanks for emailing that fateful day that was gonna be my last. Thanks for saying "NO!" to what they had planned to do to me and "YES!" to adopting me, too!

I know I'm the extra cat but Mom tells me I'm "extra special" cuz until I came along, she never even knew her heart needed stretching!

Mom told me her furrst cat came into her life the same way. Her Nanny didn't live to see the kittens arrive but her Mom said "Yes" to Nanny's promise of a kitten.

My mom is the best food lady/mom ever. She understands and accepts me, my brother and sister. She had my sister flown to Washington state where we live from Virginia when dad found her starving on the streets. She took my brother in with health problems when he was about to be returned to a shelter where his previous family got him from and helped him get better. With me she was able to open her heart again and love after shortly loosing a brother I had never met. She accepts my personality and fact that I am a attack cat and have a lot of energy to burn. Most would not put up with being stalked, pounced on and used for attack practice. But mom knows it is all in good fun. She makes sure that all three of us have the best food for us and the best care. Oh and we love the endless treats. Our MOM is the BEST!!!!
