The Hear & Meow: Notes from Catster HQ

New Features: April 1, 2009

Okay, this is not an April's Fools Post. [This was an Aprils Fools post ;] Today we just launched some small updates around the sites. Two that are fun for you are:
  • Badges! On your pet's pages you can now display badges for features of the site you enjoy or services we work with. We rolled out with 5 badges to get things going, but I'm sure more will roll out soon. After checking them out, if there are other badges you'd like to have on your page, write them as comment. We'd luv to hear. You can add them by going to My Account and to the right of you pet's thumbnail you'll need a 'badges' listing
  • Reposting your photos!
  • When you are logged in and looking at your own pet pages you'll see a small camera icon in the upper left corner (which is only visible to you). If you click it, you go to that's photo's share page where you'll see HTML, and forum code to make that photo show up anywhere else on the Internet you can post HTML. We also added links to easily share the photo in an email or even Twitter. (Do you use Twitter.com? We're big fans. You can follow us there @catster)
As always let us know what you think after checking'em out. Meows and tail waves!

Um…I don’t really like that little camera icon on my pictures. I know I’m the only one who can see it but it mars my beautiful pictures. *giggles*
Is there any way to make that icon an optional display?

I love the ability to quick post a photo on Twitter.

Love the updates, but have to agree with Pansy on this one. I just don’t like seeing the little camera icon on all my pics.

I would LOVE if you guys could make it optional. As always HQ is always thinking of cool new things for us & we love you guys!

Yeah I’m with Pansy and Oly… I know only we can see it, but meh… I think it’s adding 10 pounds on my already big frame….

Oh I do like the badges though!

Could the camera thingy not be visible until you scroll over that upper left hand corner? Seems like Technocat could make that happen!

Speaking of Twitter – we need a badge that says we follow Catster on Twitter. Newman Twitters and he wants that badge for his page!

Yeah, we don’t like the little camera icon either! It’s nice that the feature is available in our photobook — we don’t like it on our page!

I don’t like the camera thing either, it’s annoying.
Having it in our photobook is all that’s needed.
There is no reason to go anywhere else on the web, Catster is my life! (did I just say that?)

Hmmm, Non-Plus people don’t have photo books, so that’s why we added it. There are more benefit coming to photo pages, such as letting friends leave comments which received about a million requests for, so we’ll keep a close eye on this.
