A huge thanks to all the users that expressed so much care and interest in our new test features. First known as ‘Who’s A Cutie‘ and now called ‘Gimmie Some Paw,’ we added this feature at the request of hundreds of users. Turns out a good many users already know their cat - like every other cat - is completely pawfect and preferred not to see the results of this feature.
So much like Private Messaging we’ve created a bunch of user settings to make it work for everyone. Via My Account, each user can select one of the four options:
* Always show my paw rating in my pet page
* Only show my ratings if it’s four or five paws
* Hide my ratings, but keep me in the ‘Gimme Some Paw’ voting or
* Hide my ratings and don’t include my cat(s) in the voting strolls at all.
Finally their is an overarching on-off swtich so you can choose never to see paw ratings again in any pet page (though you’ll have to be logged in so we can know what your settings are).
We think this will cover everyone’s interest. As always just let us know if something could work better. We got plenty more features coming soon, so there will always be fun stuff for everyone to do. Meanwhile only 2 people have left Sparky a bone!
Who wants a treat? Who’s been a good kitty? You have! So get ready for your treat! Now you can leave a treat to any cat you want. When you are on any cat’s page you’ll see a link to leave them a treat. Catster treats are just fun little gifts you can leave behind. You can share a treat with any pet you want. Heck, you can leave as many as you want! But as in life, treats are not permanent and each treat only has a shelf-life of two weeks and has to be replenished by giving more treats. The amount of treats a cat’s has received will change the color of the treat symbol in their stats. Yellow = 1 to 4, Green = 5 - 15 , Blue = 16 - 29 and Red greater than 30! But treats always go fast!
Wow! We never expected the nose-rubbing enthusiasm for this new feature that allows members of the Catster community to vote for their favorite cat pages. We’ve had a ton of votes already! This is so cool. Isn’t it such a fun way to view the cats?
We have made a few changes to the feature since we launched it a week ago in ‘beta’ mode. We have changed the scale from a 1 to 10 scale to 1 to 5 paws. The main reason for this is that we want to emphasize that you are not rating the cat but the cat’s page (i.e. photos, favorite nap spots, arrival story, biographical information). We want to know what entries are the most compelling, the most fun and the most interesting. We want to encourage the cutest pix, the most riveting arrival stories and the best cat personalities in the cat diaries. If we were rating the cats themselves, it would be pointless… all cats on Catster are perfect tens! Meow!
The fun chewie toys just keep on coming! Now any owner of a pet on either Catster or Dogster can write diary entries for that pet. You can write from their perspective or your perspective or from that darn squirrel’s that keeps stealing their treats!
To start your diaries just go to My Account. Once you have published an entry to be shown live it will appear on your pet’s page. I told you it was a fun chewie toy! I started one for Sparky remembering tales of when we first met.
What stories can your pet tell??? Later we’ll start organizing the diaries by our favorites, user favorites, randomly and any other way that makes us laugh. Why not!
Well if you ask us, all cats are super-duper-duper cute!!! Why else would we make this site, right? Well now you, the Catster community, can have your own meow in the matter!
We are now Beta testing ”Who’ s a Cutie?” Click on the link below and you will be taken in random order through the cats. This time however you will have the ability to vote on the ‘cuteness’ of that particular cat’s entry. The votes are intended to reflect the entire entry including the photos, the bios, the arrival stories, favorite nap spots… everything!
In the future the average score will be displayed in each cat’s stats area and a new link in the navigation bar will be created to view the cutest, most entertaining entries. Perhaps later, we’ll even have a Best of Site or Best of Breed contest. Sounds fun, huh? Meow, scratch, lick!
