The Daily Cat Tips

Bathing a cat can be harrowing for both cat and human. If your pet requires one, in most cases, you’re better off leaving the job to a pro. If you’re going to tackle the job yourself, here are some tips: 1. Trim the nails before the bath! 2. Get a rubber sprayer and cut off the spray end so the water flows in a quiet stream. It’s less scary. 3. Place a bathmat in the tub so kitty has something to grip. 4. Put half a cotton ball in each ear to keep water out. 5. Put a drop of mineral oil in each eye. 6. Use tearless shampoo meant for cats. 7. Wash the head last unless kitty has fleas. In that case, wash the head first to prevent fleas from getting in the mouth or eyes. 8. Use a quiet hair dryer set on low. Keep dryer moving to avoid burning the skin.

Instead of using a hair dryer which adds to the drama of the bath, use a heat lamp. Years ago, I took my kitten into the shower with me then after a towel drying, I put him under the heat lamp and he loved it!

I have to say I don’t agree completely with your article. Cats normally do not need bathing and as to clipping a cat’s nails, easier said that done as a lot of people know. If my cat is really hot I dampen a towel in cold water and stroke him with it – he gives no objection to this but to bathe no, unless of course there are been some kind of accident and kitty is really smelly and needs more and there is no alternative!

Hello I own 4 cats and out of the four one of my Calcos Babe LOVES water.. Now I say Loves so big cause its the truth. She will get in the shower with me and the tub if i allow her to. She will get into the water itself . She has and still does get into the toilet and I mean Sit in the toilet. clean water of course. But she loves water altogether. I will be running water in the sink and she has to beright there. I have had to change water bowls several times cause she will have it all over the place. I will come home to find her soaked looking like a drowned rat so to say lol. She had a litter of kittens a while back and They too love water. Lol im sure the family that now owns the three kittens sure love that one lol. So you see cats do love water. Just have to have the right catsonality for it lol

i found these gloves on Amazon. They are supposed to be puncture resistant and go up to my shoulder with elastic to hold in place. I haven’t used them yet, but plan to bathe my kitty. One reviewer said she used them to p
ick berries and I know that would hurt! I’ll give it a shot.
