There are many tools out there to aid in giving your cat a pedicure. You may have to try out a few to find the right one for you and your cat.
The good old-fashioned way is with cat clippers, which are smaller than the dog version. This choice is quick and painless if you have a good hold on your cat, but it has the highest chance for cutting off too much nail. Then there’s something like the Pedipaws, which grinds down your cat’s nails. These will likely prevent you from going down too far but some cats are scared of the noise. There are also products such as Emery Cat Boards which are made of sturdy arched cardboard with a honeycomb design. With this option, your cat trims her own claws. Kelly is a pet writer. I use the cardboard honeycomb style “cat emery boxes” for my cats. A good trick is to push some dried catnip down into the grooves of the cardboard. Brings the cats running and they scratch happy.
The Emery Scratcher is good. 2 of my cats love it. In 4 months, it has been totaled. But—-my Bengal female still tries to destroy everything else anyway. For cardboard, I use the trays that are used for soda cans. Nice and cheap and easily replaceable. Just scatter them around the house
