Cats do a lot of talking with their eyes. Whether it’s a narrow-eyed glance of haughty disdain, wide-open eyes staring at you with love and desire, or a wrathful stare at a feline trespasser, their expressions speak volumes.
The most beautiful feline gesture, though, is the slow blink, also known as the “cat kiss.” A cat sending you a kiss will slowly close her eyes, leave them closed for a second, and slowly reopen them. Try giving your cat a kiss with your eyes and see how she responds. Usually if you give an eye-kiss and your cat is paying attention, she’ll give you one in return. When you visit a home with a cat, you can try giving the resident cat an eye-kiss. He’ll probably be quite impressed with your good behavior and may even show you some affection. Most cats won’t respond to eye kisses when there’s a lot of noise and commotion, so it’s best to practice your new kissing skills in a calm and quiet environment. its funny I get this cat tip today! Just yesterday, my cat was doing this to me, he does it a lot actually, but yesterday I sadi to him, “Whiskers, why do you always do that to mommy? Opening and closing your eyes like that? I wonder what it means” LOL And today I get the answer1 thanks for this!!
Wow !
Okay – I went to try this on my babe’s…
Well…Luci couldn’t be bothered, as he has a new Squirrel visitor on our patio & observing a new friend always takes priority with him… (Mom is usually boring anyways !)
Then… there’s Merlyn…
Now…this guy prefers to act stupid at every opportunity & followed suite with this (except involving FOOD)…was far more concerned with Mom’s breath that wreaked of a Japanese Orange !
I’ll try again tonight when all 3 of us hit the hay !
Still – sounds neat !
You are one very talented young lady & THANKYOU…
& God Bless…
My boy cat, Bear, “blinks” kisses to me more than any cat I have had. He is very slow and deliberate about it – we do it back and forth. The rest of the time he has his eyes wide open and stares a lot, so the kissing is quite apparent! He also is very tolerant of my kissing him on the head and face. No, not the mouth, but sometimes his paws. I know that is probably a bad idea (I KNOW where they have been!) – but they are so darned cute!
Well i never thought i would be a cat owner but i am. After my mom passing away in 2007 (she loved cats) her two kitties when to a friend who cares for many cats. Anyhow i visited a friends farm were she had several cats there all out doors cause people would just drop them off. Anyway she pointed to one a Tortoise Shell. And asked if i would take her. Well i watched her for a while noticed how she kept herself clean while all the others were fighting for food. Then she winked at me with one eye. They told me ya she does that. We named her Winkers .. well it sold me i took her home .. winter was coming on and i knew she prob would not make it being something of a runt. But she’s doing good today she brought another home to a neighbors cat which i guess they didn’t care. And he’s been staying here to.. Oh well
I HAVE SIX KITTIES AND I’LL TRY IT ON EVERY ONE. I’LL LET YOU KNOW IF IT WORKS ON ONE, OR ALL, OR NONE.
MY CATS ARE VERY AFFECTIONATE, AND I HOPE IT WORKS, BECAUSE THEY LOVE ME VERY MUCH. AND THEY KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM.
I can’t wait to try this with Ashley. She does the blinking kiss but I never knew what it meant. I always thought I was boring her. lol
