Cat trees are a way to create mental stability and physical amusement for cats who would otherwise be “trapped” indoors for their own protection. Indoor cats desperately need mental and physical stimulation and things to do to tickle their curiosities.
A cat tree works towards fulfilling the kitty cat’s need for different vertical levels and hidden spaces and provides climbing, chasing and scratching opportunities. We have 4 cat tree/climber’s and in one studio the cats can climb a series of shelves all the way up to the ceiling where they have two platforms. This serves many needs and purpose. Mostly its recreation and activity, but when scared its a safe haven and sancturary. At other times its a great place to nap when they don’t want to be disturbed by anyone – and it sends that message – “I’m up here sleeping – leave me alone.” It’s simply amazing to watch Niki at 13 years old go on one of her frantic runs up the shelves (boom – bomm – boom) and she’s up to the top in less than two seconds with that kitten-ish expression.
The other climbers in the house are for scratching claws and getting attention that they want to play, and another serves as a jumping platform to a bedroom window. All keep them active, happy and frisky.
What super lucky kitties you have – it’s Cat Heaven at your place!
