Hopefully, most cat owners nowadays get their pet spayed or neutered. But for those who have not, there’s new evidence that older cats should not get pregnant.
Older cats (eight years and older) can have deformed or stillborn kittens. It can also result in the death of the “queen” (pregnant cat). If you have an unfixed cat over eight, keep her indoors during her heats. And, remember, you can safely spay a cat up to six years old and many do it after that, as well. She’ll thank you – think of the oldest cat mama who gave birth at thirty. She likely wasn’t thrilled to have new mouths to feed. Kelly is a dog columnist and pet writer.
