Cats naturally seek out nooks and crannies to explore and snuggle in. The problem is that even small kittens often cannot extricate themselves from the tight places they squeeze into. Adult cats who get scared or disoriented might also wedge themselves in somewhere. Kittens who are curious will look for the smallest, most hidden spot they can to escape into, but once stuck can panic. In addition to refrigerators and washer/dryers, the other common hiding places of cats are: closets, inside boxes or shoes, drawers (inside or behind), cabinets (audio/video especially), suitcases, bags (paper, cloth or leather), laundry (clean & folded or dirty piles), sofa (behind or beneath), bookcase (behind books or behind shelving itself). |

and then there are the kittens that hide in the covered litterboxes, which is why we no longer have covered litterboxes. that was rhymon that did that, and i got tired of her smelling like…well, the litterbox…and got VERY tired of brushing kitty litter out of that long fur…she’s a maine coon mix kitty. very long, very FINE hair.
A pussycat smelling like the litter box is no fun! But neither is getting all that litter stuck in her fur – do you know about Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract Litter? There is a formula for long-haired cats that does not stick in their feathers after they squat so taht sounds just perfect for your long and fine-haired girl
Once, I got mad at Mom because she was paying so much attention to that hissy Princess, I ran away from home. She went crazy looking for me. She called and called my name, knocked on neighbor’s doors, and after three days, was about to put an ad in the paper when I was spotted getting a drink inside the house. When I realized that I’d been seen, I ran back to my ran-away-from-home space, in back of the couch between some bags where I wedged myself in.. Mom wouldn’t let me stay there. She let me know that I was very important so I haven’t left again (she moved things).
Clever little kitty cat- but much smarter Mom! That must have given her quite a scare – don’t give her gray hairs!
