Cats need high places where they can climb and escape to feel safe. A cat’s worst nightmare is the sort of big, open, one-level room that has become common in many homes – it gives the cat nowhere up high to hide and no vista point from which he can survey the scene. A cat that doesn’t have options for vertical space feels vulnerable. If there are other cats in the picture, he can wind up living in defensive fear. |
