There are some breeds of cat known to enjoy retrieving toys but many cats can learn to enjoy this game with their people. You can encourage a kitty from a young age to bring you back a small toy or balled-up sock you throw. Many cats like to do this at the very end of the day, around your bedtime.

Our little tortie Persian who was 8 years old at the time, started her own game of fetch! She had one of those little fuzzy sparkly balls, and one day she brought it and dropped it our feet. We pitched it and she’d run and bring it back & drop it!! She would do it until we had to hide the ball!! She continued this game of hers for several months. Then one day, she just wasn’t interested in it any more!!! Here recently, she has started playing with the ball again, so we’re trying to encourage her to play fetch!!! Funny kitties!

My cat, Squeaky, is a polydactyl – has 6 toes on her front paws – she is quite good at fetching – looks like a human doing it.

Multi-toed cats rock! Try to video her playing fetch and share it with friends on You Tube.
