If you decide to change the brand or type of litter your cat is using – either because you suspect your cat doesn’t like the current one or because you are interested in trying one of the other materials – do it slowly. As with everything else with cats, they will not like a sudden change in the texture beneath their paws. The difference in the feeling of the litter can be uncomfortable enough to make them step back out of the box that they had grown accustomed to using. If the texture or odor of new litter is different, a cat can be confused enough to doubt whether this is their box and may feel uncertain about using it. The safest way to make a litter change is to gradually add some of the new material over the period of a week, slowly increasing the amount of the new kind while decreasing the previous brand. |

Oh, grate tip! Us cats are vary picky! Do it slowly or we will pee on yer clothes and yer bed AND yer visitors shoes!!!
I wish you weren’t telling the truth!! I recently had a caller to CAT CHAT who said her Bengal kitten was not only peeing on her bed and laundry, but went right over and marked her husband right on the leg! Isn’t that taking shwoing how much you love your humans a little bit too far?!
