Since cats are creatures that thrive best when on a predictable schedule, the healthiest solution for a domestic cat is a twice-daily feeding schedule that allows her stomach to digest and empty itself completely. This encourages a cat’s naturally efficient digestive process that will best prepared for the next meal on an empty stomach. If your cat has been free-feeding dry food please see my book “The Cat Bible” and “Your Cat” by Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins to understand why it is such a bad idea to feed a highly processed carbohydrate to an obligate carnivore – and just as unnatural to teach a cat to graze around the clock like a farmyard animal. Don’t worry if that’s the routine you’ve got her on – she will soon adjust to having two genuinely nutritious meals a day, as long as there is a somewhat predictable schedule of twice-daily feedings. The second meal can be whenever you like in the late afternoon or evening. The number of hours between meals is not critical. |

sounds like a good idea to me-love cats and dogs equally
